Matriarch, Regenerative Artist, Curator, Educator, Entrepreneur.
I am an Oakland and San Francisco multi-disciplinary regenerative artist, designer, curator, world builder, entrepreneur, and educator who considers the intersection of cultural identity, human rights, and the environment in my work. Of Somali, Eritrean, and Ethiopian heritages, I fled my East African homeland during a time of regional wars. My work promotes cultural and ecological survival, advanced through my use of human, technological, natural, found, and recycled resources.
We ARE the wealth.
Community is currency — what flows through us matters more than what we hold. Regenerative art is my avocation. What does it mean to be a regenerative artist? To me, it means making artworks that tell stories through abstract art and concepts of restoration, rehabilitation, and regeneration. It means exploring ideas of self-sustaining systems that support life. Ancient and future, technology and organic biophilic materials are intermingled in my exploration of life-sustaining systems. At the very least, my work is an inspiration for how we can live better. At most, it proves that it is possible to live beautifully. I aspire for the world to benefit from this art form.
